NIIED, affiliated with Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, is a government organization with the aim to improve Korea's international education exchange and to promote mutual cooperation with other countries. NIIED has the following three main tasks:

First, NIIED supports the seven million overseas Koreans in improving their Korean language abilities and cultural awareness, encouraging them to promote their advancement into mainstream society.

Second, NIIED plays a leading role in Korea's international education and exchange by cooperating with international education organizations home and abroad and operating critical education and exchange programs, such as government scholarship programs, short-term exchange programs between countries, international education exhibitions abroad, etc.

Third, NIIED supports Korea's English education by running EPIK (English Program In Korea) and TaLK (Teach and Learn in Korea) programs.
NIIED invites the native English teachers and students from more than seven English speaking countries and sends them to the regional schools for their English education.

NIIED will provide further enhanced educational administrative services through the development and utilization of specialized programs. Furthermore, NIIED will put forth its utmost effort to play a pivotal role to become a leading institute in overseas Koreans education and international education exchange.
